I was writing this blog weekly and then IT happened. Nothing bad or unusual, just IT. I stopped writing on May 14th of this year. We have all experienced IT, when life gets a little crazier than usual, so we stop doing an activity we love to do or stop something we should be doing. My IT started with a 17-day art show, then working hard to finish eight large commissioned paintings, combined with kids out of school, a little summer fun thrown in, blah blah blah. We all have similar stories, different circumstances. I kept thinking, I'd like to start writing again. I thoroughly enjoyed developing ideas, writing helped me focus artistically, and hopefully, readers enjoyed it too. I thought, maybe I'd start back when the kids went back to school. No... maybe after our routine was settled. No... Now I know I just have to take a leap and jump back in, even if it is a sloppy cannonball. There is never a perfect time. So here I am. I often teach adult art students who have started art classes again after years, or even decades, since they last created art. Some were even art majors in college. They love that they have taken that leap. I've also finally started participating in a weekly figure drawing and painting group. It's been ten years since I practiced figure painting, but something I have thought about getting back into for years. What do you want to start again? We all know IT will never disappear completely, so join me, and jump right back in.
